How were you recruited?
A very good friend from college started chatting me up in emails before springing her “exciting opportunity” with me. I finally relented to “help” her qualify for her Vibe and intially did not want to purchase any inventory but her director called me and gave me the “you can’t sell from empty shelves” speech. So then I told her I would do a $600 inital inventory but she eventually wore me down and I did the $1800. Problem is I have sold about $360 worth of products but only 2 of them were part of my intial inventory so all of that is still on my shelves!!! I hated the one meeting I went to because they seemed like a bunch of fakes and each time I expressed doubt my recruiter would send me Bible verses telling me that Satan was trying to talk me out of this exciting opportunity blah blah blah…I had ONE party and I hated it. I really don’t even like most of the products that well so why did I let myself get sucked in? My husband wants me to send it all back but what about my friend and her VIBE???
What about Mary Kay appealed to you most?
Making a little extra cash, getting makeup for 50% off for personal use.
Tell us about one of your most memorable or embarassing situations while in Mary Kay
My director signs her emails “Pink Hugs” – the first time I saw that I almost threw up – after all I am a 49 year old woman and it just seemed childish – hence my sign on name here is NoMorePinkHugs.
What did you learn from your Mary Kay experience?
Don’t trust anyone trying to sign you up for any MLM
What are you doing now? Working full or part time? Working from home? etc.
I already have a full time job so I am now selling antiques and vintage items on Ebay for extra cash.
