Interesting Use of the BibleMore Bible fun with Mary Kay Directors, y'all! I especially loooove this one, for a few reasons: 1. It's unique in its attempt to translate the Bible's account of Nehemiah into the 52 days left until "Seminar" 2. It's a blatant (and pathetic) plea for more orders from her downline 3. The $500 drawing will only occur if they order enough crap and recruit enough people to move her up the pyramid and win her some stupid prizes! Yeah, baby! I can feel the Holy Ghost's presence on this one, yo. I wonder if God ever laughs at us when we do this kind of thing. Maybe not, since the drive behind this is greed... (And if you're out there
Josh, feel free to critique this woman's use of Nehemiah, since you're our
resident ordained minister.) Imagine, a minister reads my blog and enjoys it!
He's never even emailed me to shame me for anything I've said here... Comments I read the pdf. I have two words--Gag Me. Well, gee. It doesn't say whether or not she'll do the drawing if she has to put any of her own money in to hit the goal. Been there done that and lost my shot at $500! I was one of 2 people entered. I had 9 entries and the other person had 2 or 3. I thought my chances were pretty good wouldn't you? It was just too much on our director to do the drawing when she had to put so much of her own money out to make sure "we" hit Grand Prix production. I guess she didn't have enough faith herself! I saw this on the Director's site and I think this Director seems rather desperate to me. She has been behind on her production ever since her son was in the hospital and she had to take about a month off to be with him (can you believe that, she actually took time off from MK to take care of her son; good for her!). This is a perfect example of how desperate it can get when a Director gets behind and her Do-it-Quick-NSD is prodding her from behind! Shabby :)
can you imagine losing everything you've worked for because your son has an
illness? Thank goodness for real jobs - at least you can take a leave of
absence, for crying out loud. Typical MK schtick. Did I spell that right? Anyway, the blatant use of the Bible to meet their own end sickens me, it doesn't even compare. I love the money green color of the document, like they aren't even trying to sound humble about anything. yeah the animated part didn't translate into the pdf - but the "We're on the Grow" title was sparkling green lights. Money, money, money :P I noticed two "outs" in the document : She says, "For every order of at least 200 you put in and for every recruit - your name will go in for $500 Cash!!!" By saying "and" instead of "or", she doesn't have to put your name in unless you do BOTH. Also, one order of multiples of $200 only count once. A $600 order doesn't get you 3 entries, only one. She also says, "I will draw for the winner WHEN we reach our circle of Achievement goal by June 30!!!!" So, if she doesn't reach the $47K goal, the contest is cancelled. OMG! Princessa, are you saying that you put in $1800 order and your director cheesed out on the drawing. I would have been so PO'd... that is just plain wrong! Nehemiah was serving God and when he prayed for success-it was not for personal success. He was striving to fulfill something that would bring God glory. He also became angry at the rich countrymen who were taking advantage of their own people for personal gain. I truly don't see how selling someone the "perfect" shade of lipstick or getting someone to max out their card for inventory they don't need/can't afford for your own personal gain can be construed as having a burden to honor God and serve Him. I don't remember anywhere in the Bible where God had His people He chose to be leaders use bribery and guilt to serve Him. My Pastor says "God is more concerned with your character than your comfort". I get pretty sick of people using God's name to line their pockets with money that was taken from someone who needed it more. Sorry for the rampage. I will stop now, but suffice it to say- this is an area that angers me. On a lighter note- when I was 8 or 9 I named my cat Nehemiah and nicknamed him Nehi.:)
Most of the scriptures used to 'motivate' MLMers are taken out of context on
purpose. I thought this was so hilarious because comparing Nehemiah rebuilding
the walls of Jerusalem is so ridiculous. A man's faith making it possible to make the world a better place for all of God's children vs. A woman't faith making it possible for her to drive a pink car..... Hey look: If people can twist the bible to argue that Jesus was a flaming homosexual and/or married to a whore who bore His children then they can argue anything. But at least these people are twisting the word of G-d to justify their moral failings, not make dirty money.
LOL well it's nice to know that Mary Kay directors are even *worse* than the
people who write stuff like the Da Vinci Code. Gimmeshelter, I was cheesed! No drawing, nothing, not even a thank you. Which, I have some of the best drivel to come out of a director's mouth to date in the email she sent me in response to a very polite email asking that she not contact my customers until I've made my final decision regarding my contract with the company. Apparently, I'm selfish and money hungry because I'm not offering to recruit everyone under the sun. Oh, it's good. These women twist and pervert religion to suit their own greedy purposes. Start breaking out the poisoned kool-aid! I have to say that is one of the tackiest things I have heard yet! In my state I believe it's illegal to require a purchase to enter a contest. But then to reneg on the whole contest. That takes the cake!! And the plates, ice cream and a napkins too YIKES! Some of these people are walking a thin line! Hey PC, is the blasphemy on a STEEK? Anyway, I believe it is illegal for contests to require you to pay to play. Just like it is for them to sort through the entries based on whether or not they feel the entry will become a consultant. If it's not officially illegal, at the very least, corporate was less than thrilled to hear of it. It's sad but I've been in contests like this one. (Never won anything but a time-share scam, though.) I think they can get away with the paying to enter the contest by saying that the candidate buys MK and pays MK , not that particular director. Or, maybe it's still illegal but who's enforcing it? My director's pulled lots of these contests and is still running around talking about how serving her is the same as serving God. Neither lightning nor the feds have struck her yet, unfortunately. My director did the same thing when she was "on target" for Circle of Excellence unit. She fell short and didn't follow through on the contest, and didn't even mention it to anyone. We all sort of assumed when the "Circle of Excellence Sales Director" signature on her e-mails went away. . . and with it went the promises of a great party, fabulous prizes and her helping us sell off the product we purchased! YUCK! That's all I can say about this. It's sick, twisted, and perverted. This is the type of thing that sealed my decision to get out of MK. There were other things as well, but this kind of perversion turned me off completely. It's just plain WRONG! The contest thing reminded me of the consultants who hold "drawings" and then the prize is a free "facial" to everyone who put their names in the box. I think that is pretty misleading. That was popular within the unit I was in. Another consultant and I had a table once a month at a local boutique where people could enter in for a prize as well as for the facial, but we usually split the prize down the middle and gave away a prize worth approx $25 for the winner. And then split the names and called everyone else to book appointments. Some of the things I did as a consultant I would never do again. *shudder*. Not Pretty: I've been there and tried ALL the Pink Ploys. Those free facial give aways never amounted to much more than a huge waste of my time and life. I still see those facial "contest" bowls everywhere. Perhaps we should drop in a card with this website address? "The contest thing reminded me of the consultants who hold "drawings" and then the prize is a free "facial" to everyone who put their names in the box. I think that is pretty misleading. " The facial box thing reminds me of those prize boxes you see all over town. They usually offer a car or some fabulous trip. In reality all they want is your information so they can call you and bug you about some time share presentation. On the entry slip they have a slot for your family income. My kids see the prizes and try to get me to enter. I have to explain to them it's just a ploy to get your information so they can sell you something. :)
Ugh! How they use the Bible in MK! How about those Fall Retreats? MKers treat
them like religious retreats and in lieu of going to church!
OK, here I am. WOW, where do I begin. The first problem with the whole thing is
an obvious one.....Nehemiah's WHOLE PROJECT, start to finish, took 52
days.....this analogy breaks down because it just HAPPENED to be 52 days LEFT in
the seminar year. Way to use God's redemption of his chosen people as a
jump-start for procrastinators. On that note, it's also offensive to compare the
back-breaking and penitent work of a conquered, humbled people trying to restore
the THRONE OF GOD on earth, the temple, to the equally back-breaking work
(sarcasm) of making MONEY!!!!! For who? For US!!!!! "Oh,I'll tithe on it, I
promise." As with any other MLM reference to Bible passages, this one is take waaaaaaaaay out of context and made to fit their self serving topic of the moment. By the way, I WOULD scold you for some of your comments if: 1. They weren't true, and 2. If I thought it would do any good (I've known you long enough to know better than to try and talk you out of anything!) Keep it up, you shameless sinner, you.(lol) Just call it a case of Selective Piety, where they quote the parts of the Bible story where it suits them and totally ignore the important message.
hey! I am always open for God's correction! :P
Josh: In MK the Directors often practice "favour" within their units by showing favoritism to those who order larger amounts of inventory and those who recruit more women into the unit (with large orders)and the very essence of their so-called business is to assist women in acquiring, sometimes unattainable "beauty". I'd really like to see a Director address that verse on her site! I tell you ladies (and gents) if I see one thing on a site at the 40-day mark about it being any kind of a trial like what Jesus went through while tempted by Satan, I WILL be calling MK corporate myself ;) Shabby "so naive - I asked my recruiter what a "testimonial" is. She told me that the NSD would talk about how God led her to MK, how she had a "road to Damascus" experience, and all that s#@%&. " Gee, I guess I'm not really a Christian, since I don't sell Mary Kay!!
The DRAWING??? OK I just want to make a few things clear. I sell Mary Kay and have been fairly successful at it. Just because someone does something that sounds crazy, you shouldn't judge everyone that does it or totally ban a product. There are priest that molest children and people are still catholic. The director shouldn't have tried to compare things that way, BUT there are stupid people in every profession. And as far as someone said this is not a career or a "real job" for women, that's bullshit. There are more women that make more money in Mary Kay then in any other business. Mary Kay is the reason I get to stay at home with my children. As far as being a pryamid thats crap. We all come in at the same earning level. We can advance up with bonus checks, but we all get our products at 50% off. So all the people that are "exposing" Mary Kay are basically talking out of there ass because they have no idea what they are talking about. What about the fact that Mary Kay is number 1 in cosmetics and skin care for the past 13 plus years. So for all the negative people on here as far as I am concerned you can continue to sit on you couch potatoes ass and continue to be unsuccessful and drive a piece of shit car. While the hard working beauty consultants bring home a 6 plus figure income and driving around in our $80,000 cars seeing the world. She obviously didn't read the "Frequently Assked Questions" sidebar link or the "We're #1..aren't we?" topic either. Then again, judging by the amount of spelling mistakes and typos in her diatribe, reading really isn't fundamental. Care to show us your tax return and prove that you have a six figure net profit??? "There are more women that make more money in Mary Kay then in any other business." Why do I find that very hard to believe? It's shocking how they ALL believe so many lies, and even when we present proof, they still act blind, deaf, and dumb. :) MK directors have long been telling the lie that there are more women making $100,000 or more with MK than any other company. But they have no proof for that statistics. Maybe that should be our next project - disproving the claim that "there are more women millionaires in MK than any other company"??? "So for all the negative people on here as far as I am concerned you can continue to sit on you couch potato ass and continue to be unsuccessful and drive a piece of shit car." ****ALERT --- EXTREMELY POSITIVE MESSAGE ABOVE, NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND HAVE THE NERVE TO CALL US NEGATIVE. *ROLLING EYES******* And you can continue to kiss Mary Kay's old blonde wig A$$....IF THERE'S ANY ROOM LEFT FOR YOU! Don't forget to give her allllllll your money now so you can drive a piece of sh*t Cadillac, Vibe, Grand Am. Yeah, I'm sure those cars are much more classier than BMW X5 (my car) or any lexus, mercedes, Acura, hell a HONDA!! Yep, that's why they're sooooo much cheaper, huh!!
