How were you recruited? Tell us all the details.
A friend of mine (L) from high school invited my best friend (C) and I to her debut party. C and I were really skeptical but L was a good friend and we chose to support her. We had a lot of fun and to be honest, the microderm we go in the facial massively cleared my skin up. I really started thinking about selling Mary Kay because of it– but (and maybe because) I was only making $140 a week and couldn’t afford the starter kit. I brought it up with my mom and she flat-out told me that she would not support me if I chose to do Mary Kay. She tried to warn me that it was nothing but a scam and I would probably lose more money than I earned. I didn’t listen; I was too dazzled by the prospect of the cars and being able to quit my bakery job. I’d been turning it over in my mind for three full weeks and as of last night (10/16/2014) I was actually starting to put aside mone y from my paycheck and using some of my next one to buy it…. Then I found this website. I hadn’t seen or heard anything negative (go figure) except for what my mom said but after reading all these reviews I’ve decided to stay away. I don’t have a lot of friends and I was actually asking my coworkers and my own fiance if they knew anyone who would go for it (essentially to no avail). I’ll still support my friend L and if I get the money I’ll probably buy that microderm set but I won’t sell it. I’m out of the fog and feeling damn good about it.

Do you have a memorable experience from your time in Mary Kay? If so, please tell us about it.
I do enjoy the parties and even went to one of the Girl’s Night Out events. It was a lot of fun despite the fact that the women there were weirdly overly-happy. It was like they’d snorted a line before they went in.

What are you doing now?
I’m seeking a second job and trying to go back to college.
Feel free to include any additional comments here:
Mary Kay does seem like a decent opportunity for the right people– if you’re personable and know some people with money then you’ll be on your way to a car in no time. But it takes much more time and energy than they let on at the facial parties– my friend L has two other jobs and I personally believe she’d be better off sticking with those than being in MK full-time.

Hello, I just quit Mary Kay. I´m from Mexico and I got in on August 27th 2015. A friend of mine recruited me. My sister didn´t like the idea so I investigated more on the internet and I found a lot of stories. I really wish I knew about the pink truth before. I lost $15,000 pesos. That´s a lot to me because those were my savings and I was looking for a business to invest in. Mary kay is not a good business. They tell you that MK is amazing, that you will earn a lot of money, cars, trips around the world, but my director just keeps saying: ” Invest in your stock because your clients will need the prodct rigth away”. She told me to invest $22,500 pesos more, I had already invested my savings ($15,000) and I still haven´t seen profit, and she wanted me to invest more and more. She says that she doesn´t push anybody to invest but if you don´t invest you are not brave, you don´t have huge dreams, you will not grow in the MK carreer etc…
I know that I just spent 4 months in the company but I´ve seen enough. I don´t want to end up with debts or with lots of inventory which nobody will buy, not even with discount, because I had to give a lot of discount in the product in order to sell it and I still have some inventory that I have to sell… Thanks for this web page.

I truly hope you reconsider your position on Mary Kay. With the right atmosphere (which MK is) and the right people backing you, you COULD be a success. After working in the bakery for a while longer, you may eventually change your mind. It takes time, work, and diligence toward self employment, regardless of ANY job, that make the result worth the effort.

    sincerely,

    MK HUBBY
