Sherri Is Trying to Make Mary Kay Work for Her

Your Name: Sherri

Date Joined MK: 01/15/2008

When Left MK or Still Active?: Active

Initial Inventory Purchased: 4800 (nieve) Big mistake

How were you recruited?:        Lovely facial I though would be given to me!

Memorable experience you had in MK: My Jan 2009 Skin Care Class!  I couldn’t do it quick enough.  No one listened, everyone complained, rude and disrespectful!

What did you learn from MK?: Alot and paid the price as you can see by my inventory!  That is what happens when you put faith in someone you think is looking out for you  because I had not clue in sales and feel I was taken advantage of!  Don’t come into MK with a large inventory until you know how your sales are going to be and how you work it.  Only buy 1 or 2 of the new products until you find out if it selling.   Just be cautious with how much you buy.  Mary Kay is not bad company it is the people you come in contact with who are making it bad.   People definately disappoint you, which includes customers, referrals, directors.  Not all of them but alot of them.  Difficult to know who you can trust in MK, there is alot of misrepresentations with leaving things  out.   Some not being completely honest. with things.    Very shocked with alot of it because I truly don’t believe  Mary Kay would have run her company the way I have seen it!

What are you doing now?: Continuing my full time job and trying to make Mary Kay work for me!

Additional Comments: Just trying to hang in there and ge as mucht info from as many as I can to make this work!  Being the honest person I am and being true to myself!

I am an active Mary Kay consultant and I haven’t purchased any inventory.  I refuse.  I let my customer’s know up front that whatever they purchase will be to them in about 3-5 business days.  Mary Kay has totally worked for me.  I have made about $800 in profit for the past three months.  I’ve felt pressure from my Mary Kay peers to purchase inventory but like I said I refuse.  And I totally agree stick with it and it will unfold for you!

Hi, I am about to join Mary Kay.  I’ve read some bad things about it from blogs.  I had a wedding photography business where I gave a monetary reward for referrals.  My husband is in sales, and everyone knows there is always certain ways to say things to get a customer to purchase including a script.  So, sales is sales.  The group I started with are inspiring and excited!  I need that right now!  It’s what you make it to be.

Hello,  I just wanted to know if you are still working your Business?   Also, where do you live?   I started my Business last July 08 and my Invertory is larger then yours.  But I do this full time.

Schantel what made you decide to do MK full time just curious? Are you a stay at home mom or did you quit your job, or get laid off?

I just joined a couple weeks ago and am excited. But unlike some I am not doing the huge inventory. I did a $600.00 order for my first order, but $450 of that paid for by partie orders. My director has been fantastic. She has done everything to make sure I do not have a huge inventory because I told her that was not something I wanted. I think most people expect things to be ordered at these homebased parties. I know I always did. And allt his talk about it so sales etc. What do you want this is a sales position. Nordstrom makeup counters do the same thing except you pay so much more!

I am proud of you and the decision that YOU made for yourself.  Mary Kay is not for everyone and any one person would be naive to think differently. The person who does decide that it is for them and truly makes a honest effort to make something out of it will be immensely rewarded.  Not necessarily financial but also internally.  I have been a director for 11 months now and I make a conscious effort to be up front and honest with the ladies that I come in contact with.  My unit is not made up of women who can purchase super amounts of inventory, my unit is made up of women who desire more out of life and they see me as their guide and mentor in this business.  I do agree that the business is not bad, the company is not bad, however the people associated with the company, most times don’t operate under ethical standards and that is a really sad issue.  I don’t thrive off of making commissions from my unit members, it doesn’t run me or make my business, however this is a business and I treat it like a business, therefore it pays me like a business.  I love my MK business and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.  I have an awesome group of women whom I love and genuinely care for and one day we will make a difference in the lives of women all around us.  Never focus on the negative because it will drain you of your full potential, it’s a sub-conscious thing. Be in control of what you listen to, hear or even set your eyes upon because no one person can or should have that much power over you. Guard your ear gate, don’t let everything into your head, make decisions based on what is right for you and your family.  As for me, Mary Kay is not the hand that feeds me, God’s hand feeds me and I know that I am in the place that I should be in as it relates to my business and as long as I continue to operate under morally and ethically related standards, I will be abundantly blessed by HIM through this business!

Keep at it fit it into your life, don’t rearrange your life. It will be for you what YOU want it to be for you. Remember that this company, 46 years ago was built on the principal of God being first and if you take Him out of the equation, well… it will be what it will be!
    Blessings and Favor on you!

I wish the God First, Family Second, Carrer Third was stillthe basis of the business.  However, I did not find that to be true.  My National Director asked me to postpone my only childs birthday party to attend an event she had planned.  Sorry, I don’t think so.
