A House Fire Cut Short Lori’s Time As a Sales Director

Your Name: Lori Van Ryckeghem

Date Joined MK: 11/2001

When Left MK or Still Active?: Still Active

Initial Inventory Purchased: 600

How were you recruited?: A facial of course! By my Senior MaryJo Dallen I was a Mary Kay Sales Director for 2 yrs.Until the fire.

Memorable experience you had in MK: When I went to Dallas and was in the Queen’s Court of Recruiting! I won my Diamond Bumblebee! That was Awesome! I love being a Mary Kay Sales Director! Or I was a Mary kay Sales Director,I will be again!

What did you learn from MK?: I have learned a lot in Mary Kay! How to be a better person and care more about others.I had a fire,my house caught on fire by our Christmas tree,we lost everything.I turned my fire into a blessing,I gave to the soldiers in Iraq, made gift baskets for the elderly, and gave to the women of domestic violence with my Mary Kay products. My product was smoke damaged on the outside not the inside,I did a 50% off sale to feed my boys with no kitchen for a year, people would come to my garage and buy product to help me.I would say that is turning it into a blessing.

What are you doing now?: I am still in MaryKay,but I had to step down from my Mary Kay Sales Director position,It was to hard to run my business while we were trying to rebuild our lives,my boys needed me since we lost everything we owned.

Additional Comments: Being in Mary Kay has helped me to overcome everything in my life! I have been through so many challenges,I am stronger! I have been through domestic violence my self, black toxic mold, skin cancer, loosing a close friend to Aids,my mother in law passing away, which I was very close to.And last but not least,my house catching on fire by our Christmas tree  that we just bought.People do not understand how hard life can be,I do.I hope my story can Inspire other women to never give up! And God will use me in a special way for what I have been through. Thanks For Listening To My Story,Lori Van Ryckeghem

Hi Lipstick,I know how you feel but not everyone in Mary Kay Is going to burn you.I am the real deal and I do care,if you let people take advantage of you.Just stay active for you,so you can get everything at 50% off, maybe even sell a little on the side. You don’t have to have a big inventory, heck I had to start with nothing after the fire and sell my product at 50% off to survive, you see we had no kitchen for a year after we moved back into our home, still not finished, had to get money fast to feed my boys, were talking fast food every day for a year YUCK! This is the reason for …Mypowerpink.com  I would love to help you girlfriend,so you will make some extra money.Mary Kay would want us to stay together.Take Care,  Lori Van R-  Powerpink-Twitter

Lorraine, I left MK 2 years ago, I’m not going back or looking back…forward is where I am moving without MK or any other MLM.  I’m glad your experiences have been good, thanks for posting.  BTW you do know you are trying to recruit on an anti-MK website don’t you?

Lorraine, I too am sorry to hear of the loss of your home and possessions.  At least no one was hurt.  I took a look at your website, are you attempting to recruit?  Did you get permission from MK?  I thought that they were very picky about how / where advertisements were placed, even had pre-approved ad’s on the intouch site.  This does not look like anything that was approved by MK, that I have seen before.  Just wondering?    This is an anti-MLM site of any sort.  I’m not sure if the $100 you mention on your website was for joining MK or just information.

Hi Tam,Mypowerpink.com is mine, the 100 bucks is for Mary Kay. I created Mypowerpink.com to give women another chance if they want it, but if you don’t there is more. You see I have been burned too,The higher up people don’t want you to know this stuff and there is a lot of flakes in this world.People will take advantage of you if you let them.I had a lot of money before the fire and I spent a lot on inventory, thank God it was all paid for,oh well,I did 50% off sale actually half off fire sale! ha ha! to survive with my boys.Anyway I am still in Mary Kay,It helps to make some extra money, but I also do different stuff on the internet.Home based business’s are on the rise right now,and I want to be able to give women a chance,a chance to start out all over again,I am the real deal,I just have my girls stay active not place $$$ orders they cant afford.I know I lost everything,so I know how it is,we are struggling still, since the fire, but having a little extra money can help.Check me out on Google,I do lots of other things as well but mainly I help people that is what I do. Take Care,Lori Van R-Powerpink…P.S. This Is My Secret *removed by admin*

    Lorraine,
Dont be ashamed of recruiting on the Internet there is nothing wrong with that if you find that to be successful or if that is your mode. I think what the ladies are trying to say (and Im not saying this is your intention) is that if you are going to do that dont use this blog as a means of getting recruits. Again I am not saying that is your intention I just dont want you to think the women here are hateful or anything like that. Believe me if they didnt want to help they wouldnt still have the MK training documents here, I think the purpose of that is in case they dont get appropriate help from their directors.
    Just my two cents.

The training documents are here to show what kind of stuff floats around as “training” in Mary Kay. If a current consultant finds it helpful, so be it. But they aren’t here as justification of anything whatsoever.

I’m sorry to disagree, but the type of “recruiting” that Lorraine is doing is repulsive to me and as a website owner, I have no patience for people who basically spam sites by commenting just so they can sign everything with their website name.  Lorraine’s site has very little helpful info and is a basically a disguise for her “software shop” which has affiliate links to all sorts of software programs.

I’m sorry for her personal problems, but it doesn’t make me tolerate what she’s doing.

She wants to “help” people by recruiting them into MK. Sorry, but if you think that’s helping, I respectfully disagree.
