Every year, dozens of editors at Allure magazine spend months testing thousands of beauty products. This year’s list contains 182 products that the editors deemed the best.
And there’s not a single Mary Kay product on the list.
What the heck is going on here! No products from the company who for years identified themselves as America’s Best Selling Brand?! You’ve got to be kidding me.
Oh sure…you could use the excuse that Allure only chooses products that are sold in retail outlets, not from direct sales companies.
And then you’ll notice that AVON made the list. Oops! ![]()
Here’s the complete list for your reference:

Yeah, the products speak for themselves. lol. By and large I have found most of Avon’s products to be really good, even if they’re dirt cheap. The only exception is that they do not have a wide enough selection of eyeshadow colors, and those they do have are very conservative. Their mineral makeup is great, and so are their lipsticks. Their cosmetic brushes have never failed me.
arrrgh, my computer won’t open the Allure list! I wanted to see what was on there!

The list wouldn’t open for me either! I think most women, especially with todays economy, are spending what money they have for makeup on less expensive products. JMO

Yeah, I buy all my stuff at Walmart now. I’m just trying to figure out what works for my skin (it’s loopy) and what doesn’t without spending more than $20 on it all. I haven’t tried AVON because I’ve heard some bad things about it but what the heck I tried MK….lol…It doesn’t shock me that MK stuff isn’t on the list. Sorry, it’s not the best quality of things.

English, what are your skin care needs? I’ve done extensive sampling of products *cough*makeupaddict*cough* and maybe I can help recommend stuff that is good but not expensive.

Haven’t had a problem with the list. It’s a PDF and should start downloading when you click the link, then open when done.
Here’s a link to the page on Allure’s site that shows all the products:

gothchiq, I have a combination of skin types. I think I’ve found something that does work. It’s mainly my hormones that makes me break out when I do.

Yeah but Mary Kay did receive the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for 2010…just sayin’…this means that Good Housekeeping will back Mary Kay’s products and warranty them.

Good Housekeeping shouldn’t need to back MK’s products, supposedly MK backs them already!
Good Housekeeping seal of approval doesn’t mean as much as it used to. The almighty advertising dollars speak volumes.
