A Little Taste of Seminar

Are you sad because you weren’t walking around Dallas in July’s 100+ heat wearing a “sharp” wool blazer?
Well wipe those tears, missy!
Here’s a little snippet of all the excitement and inspiration you missed at Seminar this year, complete with the final candlelight (pen light) ceremony.
Now can someone explain to me why those not-so-sharp guys in this video are dancing ?

Just as shady as Mary Kay is another MLM that “provides” cars: Arbonne. I think Avon is doing something similar (I thought it was a vehicle?) now that they’re getting bigger on the pyramid-recruiting-”parties” thing.
SO, so true Tam! Tax deductions are NOT income!! There are limits per your tax bracket for how much deductions you can claim on your taxes, and once that’s met, if you have tons of other expenses above that level, you’re just POL (pink-outta-luck!).
OMG, Maryanne Maryanne Maryanne, Jealous? No way darlin’. We HAVE done the May Kay thing and realized what a joke it was and got out! Sooooooooo much of what you said sounds straight out of a manual for directors and NSD’s! Comeoutof the pinkfog Maryanne!!!!!! We are here to help!
Oh oh oh, and “The Golden Rule” WTF? Mary Kay does NOT promote the Golden Rule in the least!!!!!!
That’s right Miss Maryanne “Follow the Golden Rule” is just a catch phrase that MK uses but doesn’t really mean! Please join us in the forum and learn more about the truths behind the MK business!
Maryanne, my dear, first I don’t know whatever possessed you to use your real name on here, but I will givey props for the bravery. Second I have only been in the “business” for a month and I already know the real deal about the cars. I have no ambition to earn any of the cars, which by no means are free. For what it takes to get and stay in one, you’d be better off getting your credit together and buying your own car. Plus a lot of your car drivers are middle aged women have retired from their jobs or have husbands who earn substantially more than they do. They have to time to basically take MK and run with it. They’re driving pink cadillacs that they could probably afford to lease on their own, such is the case with my NSD. I know that her husband brings in well over six figures and I may be underestimatiing. Thus some of these women are adding to the illusion MK can afford you a lavish lifestyle with little effort or skill. To women who do not know better or are unwilling to learn, they will buy into this and believe that they can have the same lifestyle. Like I said I have learned this in just a month. Trust me as soon as possible I will be paying off that $700 balance on the MK Card, and after that my SDs will have to accept that I will only be placing orders as they come.
So Maryanne, I hate to tell you this, actually no I don’t, but no one is jealous. You see Mary Kay is truly a business that someone does own, but it’s not you, me or anyone else who has ever worn that pin. The only people getting rich are Mrs. Ash’s heirs and the stockholders. Now I challenge you to write your own business plan, pitch it to some investors, and establish a corporation selling a good/service that you believe in. Then when you become so large that you can trade shares on the NYSE, I might think about feeling jealous!
My Beauty,
I’m glad that it only took you a month. It took me about 3. But the night that I signed my agreement, I was in a panic…wondering what I had done. I proceeded and ordered $1800 inventory, which I’m still selling down before my time runs out to send it back in. I used our vacation money to do this and hate that I made such a stupid decision. I was doing pretty well, but like you, I found this site and it really opened my eyes and made my decision to stop actively selling much easier. The really ironic thing is that I have developed an allergy to the eye make up and once I found out that the mineral powder is mostly talc, I decided to find another brand of make up. I’m trying hard not to feel guilty about spending our vacation money, but I hate the fact that I did…even though my sweet hubby supported me in the decision. He’s not angry or bitter about it, but I’m still somewhat bitter. I’m so thankful to have found this site and that others are finding it, too. Now women can make informed decisions about becoming MKC’s. I only wish that I had found it sooner. Take care and you just go, girl!
BTW, I love your monster…are you a green Mrs. Potato head with a bad curly perm? LOL! Looks like you have a tree trunk for legs? These monsters are just too funny!
Hey id girl, I am very disappointed to hear that the mineral formulas contain talc, something I was not aware of. Now I feel like I should return every last bit of my product and not even try to sell it. When I saw that Mary Kay was moving towards the mineral formulas, I thought that they were becoming more progressive and finally moving into the new century. It seemed that they were recognizing the need to compete with the likes of MAC and other brands. The the new compact is even more sleek and trendy looking. But knowing that they are using a harmful ingredient in these products, I cannot in good faith sell any of it. I am also very sorry to hear that you made such a large inventory purchase so soon! I just hope you can make some profit from it. Don’t worry about it taking 3 months to see the light, what also helped me was a former consulant that I work with who also began to clue me in on somethings, in particular the car nonsense. She was kind enough to give me some skin care class supplies and was going to give me some product, but her daughter is gonna try to sell them. Don’t wait too long on returning that stuff. I have already set a timeline for getting rid of my inventory, in fact I may be doing it sooner than I said I would. I can’t wait for the conversation that I am going to have with my recruiter and sales director when I do. Although I know it won’t change anything with them, I plan to let them have it!
My beauty,
I, too, was shocked to see that the first and main ingredient was talc.
I have one lady who wants to go through my stuff to get some things that she wants and then it’s going back. I have until March 29 to get it back. My goal is to send it back at the end of this month. I didn’t tell my recruiter that I was going to quit until after I had called and gotten my inventory return form. Then I emailed her. I was too much of a wimp to tell her face to face! LOL! The problem is that I went through and did my inventory list on it pretty quick after getting the form. BTW, some of the things that I have are not even listed there, so I’m also using the one that you can get from this site. This one also automatically calculates what you’re supposed to get back. Anyway, she’ll do everything to try to talk you out of quitting. She’ll want to meet with you and take you out for lunch for some girl friend time. I just told mine that I was too busy…which is true…I’m so busy that I don’t have time to eat lunch most days…LOL! I’d get the form and once you are through getting rid of what you are going to sell, send the rest back and don’t tell the recruiter until after it’s in the mail. Then you won’t have to listen to her spiel about not sending it back or have her call from time to time just to try to get together. Mine would already be gone if it wasn’t for one person really wanting to go through and purchase what she wants. I’m selling what’s left at cost. If she doesn’t come over by the end of this month, I’m sending it back. Well, take care and keep us all posted on how things go with getting out!
Hey ladies, I know that I can return my inventory and refund for 90% of what I paid. Now, will I be deemed inactive at that point? Also , what the hell is “debut”? I have already held my initial party at my home, where my recruiter conducted the class and I earned my first sales. Was that not a debut? My recruiter contacted me the other day asking me what my schedule looked like so that I could schedule my debut. I basically asked her the same thing that I just asked all of you. I was busy at the time so I asked her to email me. I have not heard back from her. Every week there’s something else with MK! A few weeks ago I placed a small order, my recruiter’s suggestion, to bring my “production” to $1000 for the month of July. This was on the 30th. She stated the I would be pinned as an “Elite” for this. I was not. Did she lie to me or should I have been pinned? Also, can anyone give me clarification as to how much production you have to have before you receive company referrals? One last thing, how exactly do consultant to consultant sales work? I said in an earlier post that I am trying to sell some product to my friend, who is also a consultant in another city. Bottom line, I want to get rid of this damn inventory, but retain my active status and wholesale production so that I can get referrals, if I can. After that, I want no inventory, just order as I receive payments. I know this is not the topic we were commenting on, but I just thought I would ask while I was here. Thanks ladies!
Once you return product to the company for 90% buyback, you will be considered terminated and have no more ordering privileges or access to InTouch, product returns, Applause. You are out of MK!
Your SD’s “suggestion” to place an order to bring your production to $1000 was for her benefit to make her end of month production!
In order to get MK corporate referrals, you must be a Star Consultant and have a web site! You will not get the number of referrals you expect.
In all my years of having a web site…I only got
2 referrals from people searching for a consultant. Not enough for the money I spent and the length of time that I was a Star Consultant.
The copany discourages trading and consultant to consultant sales. But usually you write up a sales ticket for wholesale + retail sales tax. YOu could charge her a portion of the shipping, but I was never charged shipping and never charged shipping to anlther consultant unless she was out of my area and I actually shipped the product to her customer!
Dont fall for the referral line…you will get very few referral if any, depending on how many star consultants are in your zip code! The low chance of getting a referral is not worth placing orders for product that is not sold!
Somereferrals are just out to get free samples andthen they end up buying from somebody else anyway! Be smart!
I would define your first class that your recruiter held for you as a debut…why have two? In a debut you can invite a lot of people, show some product, officially open your business and the purpose is to take orders and try to book your
Perfect Start. So maybe that is what she is going for.
Quoting My Beauty “I would be pinned as an “Elite” for this. I was not. Did she lie to me or should I have been pinned? Also, can anyone give me clarification as to how much production you have to have before you receive company referrals? One last thing, how exactly do consultant to consultant sales work? ”
My Beauty,
Not certain what the “pinned as Elite” is, our EESD didn’t do that but did tell us we’d get X and never followed thru. I assume it was something she “did” on her own.
Lipstick answered the referrals dead on – the 2 I got in 18 months certainly did not pay for the website. Definitely NOT worth attempting to maintain active status for.
As far as IBC to IBC sales, we did tax on retail plus wholesale price, and like Lipstick, never charged for shipping.
If you want to get rid of your inventory, after your friend is done, notify your customers you are selling 40% off retail. You may make a little doing it that way but still watch your time frame so you can return all others before 1 year for 90% back.
Oh, the debut thing. Yeah, that is where you invite EVERYONE you know, (ie, just like you were getting married or having a baby shower) and have them to your house so your SD or recruiter can sit them all down and go through all the products to tell them how WONDERFUL everything is and you have your calendar there and she will take orders and book parties for you to get you started (and, like Lipstick said) get your 30 faces scheduled.
No makeup or skincare is done, just talking and talking and talking (2 1/2 hours at mine) and if you have 15 people, you get ? (maybe pearl bracelet? or necklace?). Now, in order to get 15 there, you’d better invite at least 60 and have enough food for them, etc.
My beauty, I too didn’t get the referrals I thought I would, I think it was1!!!!!! BFD!!!! Not worth the $18OO I spent in MK each 1/4. There is nothing legit about Mary Kay!
My sales director was always trying to talk me into doing a Grand Reopening!!!! Like that would do any good! My friends and family were ignoring me already because of MK and my director!
i have a mk website that usually produces 2 or 3 good referral orders each year. for me, “good” is $75 or more. the bigger purpose for me having the site is my regular customers ordering on-line, seeing the new products, etc. etc. here’s one thing i do – you know how if you sign up for the site within like a month or two of signing into mary kay, it’s only $25 for the year? well, when that expires, i don’t renew right away. i wait about 3 or 4 months, then am always offered to “come back” for the intro price of $25 and that’s when i sign back on. i’ve done this maybe 5 or 6 times, so for me, the website works and pays for itself. one of the referrals i got was about 4 years ago, and it’s a lady i’ve never met. she on-lines (or calls) what she wants, i leave it on a bench by her front door and she puts a check in the bushes!!! her order is generally between $75 and $100 (just once a year), but her order alone pays the $25 cost.
