Mary Kay Opinion – Brittanie

I don’t agree at all with the principals behind MK. They are selling you products that aren’t any better than anyone else’s. If you can buy the products at half price, they are only making half of that, which means the makeup is only worth half of that. It is insane how much the directors haggle you. Mary Kay is a joke in my opinion. I am selling all of my inventory and want nothing to do with the company again.

Sure, it only costs half of that to make it. Probably only a fourth. No business would work if it didn’t sell product for more than they spent making it. How much do you think it costs to make NIKE shoes? That’s why stores CAN have sales. MK was created so that women can make money…. how many other companies let there base salesman get 50% profit??? This is a business and I understand that people get hurt and feel lied to. Being upset is OK. But I am in this not only for my discount but so that I can help my friends realize they don’t have to spend so much on makeup. Do you think that it costs more for lancome to make their stuff? No – it doesn’t. The fact that MK has made a product that IS just as good (if not better, at least FOR you) and you can buy it at the full amount for a fraction of your previous make-up is why I’m doing it. I’m sorry the directors haggled you. I’m sure you wished you had never talked to them in the first place. This is the kind of JOB where you have to set priorities and goals for yourself. And if you decide to get out, do it. I have a group of non-MK women (and my husband) who keep me in check. They don’t sing the songs, they want me to do what I need to do. And I have a great director who understands that I take my time doing things and am not in it for prizes or trips. I am doing this as a JOB. Sorry it didn’t work for everyone else, it is bound to not work for everyone.

I am sorry that a couple of you seem so bitter. I love this business. And as far as the working as a team.. “if you are out selling the product and have to order it not only helps your team (car production) but also puts money in your pocket as well as provides you the opportunity to get your own car and become a Director. So, if you don’t like helping your team and your director. Work your business like a business and earn your own car!

Becky, we live in America and Mary Kay Corp does not control what we can say or how we express our opinions.

You can’t earn a car by yourself…read the rules.
And if you fail to meet production they will come and get the car you earned, so it’s not really YOUR car, it’s a lease car and failing to meet production will see you making those lease payments yourself.

We are not bitter, we just have figured out the MK money making pyramid…yes, Becky, MK is a pyramid and guess who sits at the top of the pyramid?  MK!

    Well said Lipstick!

Becky, go to the forum and read! Learn about the business that you love so dear….nothing’s perfect in life and if it sounds too good to be true it is! I’m surprised that  you wouldn’t want to know everything about your business, good and bad. You won’t succeed with the “I’m not going to see anything that might be perceived as negative” attitude! You didn’t say how long you’ve been involved with MK either.

Oh and go ahead and let MK corp know about us…cause guess what, I’m sure they already do and there’s is nothing that they can do about sharing of information and freedom of speech!

All the goofy rah-rah at the meetings made me cringe.  PULEEZ!  Maybe women needed rah-rah in the early 60′s, I don’t know.  These days it smacks of 7th grade immaturity.  Do grow up some time this century, MK.  Women want to be in businesses that don’t insult their intelligence.  Refusing to allow newbies to see real schedules C, keeping them from talking over the business plan with their husbands and/or trusted professionals is covert and borders on illegal.  If MK is so great and so professional, and so aboveboard, SD would tell you to bring your husband, accountant, and other professionals to your sign-up.   Can you imagine a banker asking you to meet him in the alley to sign your loan agreement and telling you about the husband unawareness plan  *wink *wink!  MK hides everything like the moles they are.  P.S.  I love the MK products and use them, but the business practices were cultish.
