Story From A Happy Mary Kay Consultant

Name: Brittany

Date Joined MK: December 2006

Highest Level Achieved: Star Consultant

When Left MK Or Are You Still Active: Active

Initial Inventory Purchased: $1,800.00

How were you recruited?
I went to a pedicure class last summer and then was invited to attend a meeting later on for a facial. I went to several meetings before deciding that I wanted to join. My recruiter has become one of my closest friends.

What about Mary Kay appealed to you most?
I had never tried the product until September of 2006. My skin had been very tempermental – MK was the only thing that seemed to actually help my skin. The product appealed to me – but also the women in my unit are fantastic!

Tell us about one of your most memorable or embarassing situations while in Mary Kay
My most memorable memory thus far was attending my first event, which was Career Conference. The speakers we had were phenominal and very powerful. Some of the women in this business have overcome some amazing odds to become the leaders they are today.

What did you learn from your Mary Kay experience?
I am still learning. I have become a better person, more confident and self sufficent. I have learned the value of wonderful girlfriends.

What are you doing now? Working full or part time? Working from home? etc.
I work part time during the day and I work my MK business in the evening.

Additional Comments
This business is what you make it. Some of the comments on here are very disheartening. Just like a job, if you want to work this busniess – you have to sacrifice some personal time. I have 2 small children who think what I do is fun – they are proud that their mother is happy in her life and business. It is what you make it. My director is very supportive – as is everyone in our unit. Is that the case with other directors/units? No, maybe not. But one’s negative experience shouldn’t be used to batter others choices. If you truly have a good director, then she will explain EVERYTHING to you before you sign your agreement. I purchased my inventory AFTER my debut – I used the money I made from that for inventory – I didn’t have to go into debt. Everyone’s story is different.

Mary Kay is only really for smart people. I’ve been in it for 8 months, tripled my money. It is a good business, provided you can handle money well and not use the returns as a piggy bank.

Christine I’m glad you are having success.

What do you mean by business is really only for smart people. Could you elaborate?

I’m sorry, but are you implying that anyone one who has not made money doing Mary Kay (which is, in fact the vast majority) is not smart?  I’m just blown away by the ignorance of your comment.

Good for you for tripling your money (which I highly doubt you’ve truthfully done).  Oh, and glad to see you feel the need to take the time out of your Income Producing Activities to come here and brag about your “success”.  Fake it ’til you make it sister!  Eh to go!  *pat on back*

    Happy New Year,

    Love Trudie.

Great post Trudie, i don’t consider myself to be stupid, uneducated or a “lazy loser”…just one of the “smart” ones who saw through all the pink smoke and mirrors..too bad i walked around without my “no pink vision goggles” on for so long (8/5 years)
So Dee, I have been watching and reading your posts for quite a little bit, either you are one of those people who moves from 1 MLM to another, exploiting people along the way or you are a MKC  “spy”!  Sorry, if you take offense, JMO!

Hello Lipstick,  Im sorry that you are so much bitterness and so jaded that you can tell when someone is trying to make a sincere contribution via a blog post.  Im neither of what you imply.  I actually had decided that I would no longer post  here nor continue to read this blog. It adds no value to my life what so ever.
I have had some of the same negative experiences that many people here have had with Mary Kay reps.  But I did not allow it to turn me into poison and infect anyone I know would listen.

You can say about me what you will… I know who I am and were I’m going and the people’s lives I want to effect for the good and that’s all that really matters.

    Many blessings to all.

Dee, I don’t think Lipstick’s comments warranted your “bitterness and jaded” adjectives.  Your remarks about poison, etc, are also way overboard in my opinion. Making pronouncements about someone like you’ve done is something the ladies here are used to, certainly.

If you can’t understand that most of the members here have had it up to their ears with the B.S. and false promises and rah-rah tactics of MLM, and the comments of people similar in outlook to you, who think there are “legitimate” MLMs out there, then I don’t know what to say.

I take pride in the fact that the members here don’t attack but DO express their opinions. I’ve frequently remarked here that most often it is the Mary Kay “positive” consultant that usually throws the insults here. But we don’t exclude people. We give an outlet for all opinions, as long as they aren’t vulgar and uncalled for.

Dee, it seems to me that this site was adding “value” to your life, since you’ve been here every day for two weeks, taking LOTS of time out of your day to contribute long posts. Usually visitors like yourself are here to promote their MLM or some other self-serving reason. Since you talk up MLMs and take time to post your website address, I suspect you hoped your visits and posts here would benefit you and your website somehow. I’d kindly suggest that you take time to check your spelling and grammar before you post so that you are better represented by what you say.
