How were you recruited?
I had a great consultant. I watched her do facials. She invited me to every recruiting event she attended. I signed up with her after 6 years.
What about Mary Kay appealed to you most?
Getting to know new people, helping women, learning a new skill, 1/2 price for my products.
Tell us about one of your most memorable or embarassing situations while in Mary Kay
Warm chatter- I came across wooden and insincere, stalking women at the malls, going to appointments only to have the women not at home.
What did you learn from your Mary Kay experience?
I am not a sales person (which, by the way, you have to be in order to do well), Incentives such as cheap jewelry can be powerful hooks to suspend our rational thinking. I would buy inventory just to ‘earn’ something that I could have purchased at a dime store!
What are you doing now? Working full or part time? Working from home? etc.
I never quit my day job. I work full time and have a family.
One of the things I realized is that to be successful, I would have no time left for the things I truly value… such as family, friends, rest, recreation, etc. I still love the products and use them every day.
