Date Joined MK: April 2005
Highest Level Achieved: Senior Consultant
When Left MK or Are You Still Active: Technically I am A3. I’m on my way out the door!!
Initial Inventory Purchased: $1,800.00
How were you recruited?
I was recruited by a woman who I have known for a long time. I signed up for personal use, but my Director managed to get me excited about selling. I spent about one year holding classes, recruiting and buying inventory ‘for’ my Director and not for me. For awhile I thought I wanted Directorship, but when I couldn’t even get three recruits to stay active at the same time I decided it was just not going to work. Also, once all the super-pressure (phone calls, postcards, e-mails) started from my Director and Sr. Director it was no longer any fun, but instead a pain and a huge burden. I don’t hold anything against the person who recruited me (she’s a sweetie and I think the world of her). I also don’t hold anything against my Director as she was just doing what MK taught her to do… she just hasn’t seen the light on it all yet.
What about Mary Kay appealed to you most?
Getting my personal things at cost. Later, having my own business. Hah!!!
Tell us about one of your most memorable or embarassing situations while in Mary Kay
Nothing really embarrassing, just very frustrating… cancelled classes, no one showing up, low sales, non-payments, and now a HUGE debt on my MK VISA card. It all just makes me sick.
What did you learn from your Mary Kay experience?
If it sounds too good to be true, IT IS! It took LOTS more money and LOTS more time than my Director or MKC said it would to get anywhere with the business.
What are you doing now? Working full or part time? Working from home? etc.
I’m a mom of college-age kids. I’m mostly home and love it!! I do clean a few houses for people each month… the money is great… my time away from home is minimal… the work is not glamorous, but it’s also not putting me in debt!
