Brief story of where / how you were recruited: I had been to a couple MK parties, and was invited to a “special” party at my recruiters house. In reality it was just a recruiting event being held by her sales director. The whole evening was a pitch for MK, and I was drawn in by the promise of building a business for myself. I was having some regrets at work, and thought that MK would be perfect because I’d have total control over it.
What thing(s) appealed to you most about the MK opportunity:
Unlimited income potential. Until I found out that it really was limited by how much you could recruit and frontload.
What was your most embarrassing moment as a consultant: Let’s see. Would it be standing on someone’s front step and ringing the doorbell while I saw the curtains rustle but no one answered the door? Or driving an hour each way for an appointment who was a no show? Or warm chatting at the mall in the dressing room of a department store? Or being made to hold a skunk at a unit meeting because I dared to tell the truth about the difficulty of selling and recruiting?
What are you doing now?
Successful small business owner.
What are the main things you learned from your experience?Be careful who you trust. People are not dollar signs, they are people. Bible verses do not make greed okay.
